2014-04-01 · The MIC distributions in the EUCAST database are based on more than 50 000 isolates for some antimicrobial agent-organism combinations. These MIC distributions are composed of collated data from a large number of investigators and laboratories.
Contributors of MIC data are not informed about whetheror not their contributions are accepted. There are currently more than 29 000 MIC distributions in the EUCAST database, which amounts to many millions of MIC values. The distributions are from breakpoint committees, individual researchers in human and veterinary 2013-09-09 The EUCAST software, originally created in 2003, for displaying distributions of MIC-values (generated with methods calibrated to broth microdilution or agar dilution) and inhibition zone diameters (generated with EUCAST disk diffusion methodology) was re-programmed during 2020 and re-launched on 24 November, 2020. Committee to harmonize antimicrobial breakpoints, organized by ESCMID, ECDC and European national breakpoint committees. Subcommittees on antifungal susceptibility testing, susceptibility testing of anaerobes and interpretative reading and expert rules in susceptibility testing. In 2015 EUCAST decided to form a subcommittee to determine rules for MIC distributions (import and aggregation) and for determining ECOFFs.
The mic.eucast.org website is the EUCAST software for displaying distributions of MIC-values (generated with broth microdilution according to the ISO-standard or with methods calibrated to broth microdilution or when appropriate agar dilution) and inhibition zone diameters (generated only with EUCAST disk diffusion methodology with disks and media from several manufacturers). MIC distributions and zone diameter distributions are added to the distribution database when available. The consequence of this is that ECOFF values may be added, TECOFFs may reach ECOFF status, and on occasion ECOFFs will be revised. Currently all MIC distributions are reviewed in accordance with criteria in SOP 10.1. The website gives MIC distributions (and since 2010 inhibition zone diameter distributions generated with the new EUCAST disk diffusion method) for a wide range of organisms and antimicrobial agents, including antifungals. The distributions are based on collated data from a total of more than 24000 MIC distributions from worldwide sources.
Apr 6, 2020 All MIC-data (including several new distributions) for temocillin and and TECOFFs are available on the EUCAST MIC distribution database.

The EUCAST reference method of MIC determination for MTBC is the broth microdilution method in Middlebrook 7H9-10% OADC medium. The final inoculum is a 10 5 CFU/mL suspension, obtained from a 10 −2 dilution of a 0.5 McFarland suspension prepared after vortexing bacterial colonies with glass beads before suspending them in sterile water. The culture is maintained in a U-shaped 96-well
These are the breakpoints that in the EUCAST breakpoint tables are referred to as ‘non-species- Burkholderia pseudomallei multi-centre study to establish EUCAST MIC and zone diameter distributions and epidemiological cut-off values. O. Karatuna. O. Karatuna. Correspondence. Corresponding author.

[ NRI produced normalized distributions in all cases. Cutoff values were calculated for +2.0 and +2.5 standard deviations (SD) above the means and then rounded up to nearest regular MIC dilution step. EUCAST also show cutoff values, ECOFF values, which were used as the reference. The MIC and zone diameter distributions generated in this study allowed us to establish MIC and zone diameter ECOFFs, respectively, for the antimicrobials studied. These ECOFFs served as background data for EUCAST to set clinical MIC and zone diameter breakpoints for B. pseudomallei.
